Sports Massage Therapy: All about Sports Massage Therapy you always wanted to know

What is sports  massage therapy?

Sports therapy is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage and includes shin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and facia. Sports therapy is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports therapy, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

But you do not have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage therapy!

It can be used for the benefits of all sports and exercise participants from elite athlete to those of a less sporty persuasion as it focuses on the individual needs of the clients. Treatments are designed to positively enhance the client's ability to perform to their maximum ability in their particular sport, in the workplace or everyday tasks.

These are some of the conditions sports massage can help:

  • Muscle tension
